They sold their soul, not "sole". Unless that was part of some special deal. ;-)

No amount of money could get me to do what they did. I like to sleep at night. Reminds me of when Starbucks tried to buy Peet's. Now that guy talked the talk and walked the walk, and look at how successful they still are, all these years later. And until he died, he slept fine at night.

I just feel bad for all the shops that spent the money on it....

I was just saying that to my wife, Matt. It's like a shot to the face for independents, really. All that, "this will set you apart" stuff is gone. The Clover was our instant press, our ticket to the dance we didn't think we would get to go to. I agree, from a business stance, good for them. From a moral, ethical stance, at least in my opinion, they sold their sole to the devil. It's like that show "The Moment Of Truth" on Fox. You will make $100,000. You will lose your wife, friends and job.

Not that I'm thrilled or even happy about this, but you have to look at it from the sellers standpoint. I have extremely high standards as do many people on here, and I could rage against the machine as hard as I want to, but when someone flashes a large, undisclosed amount of money in your face for all your hard work.....what would you do in real life? I'm human and like the idea of living comfortably...I suppose I might sell out too.

Yeah, if there weren't for the butt-kissing comments from the Clover guy about Charbucks, I would have given them a smidge of grace and not called sell-out, but a rose by any other name is still a rose.

first off, from a business standpoint I do want to congratulate Zander and all at Clover ... they are excellent entrepreneurs and should be rewarded for their innovation and hard work ...

second tho ... OMG is this for real? I can't tell you how many times in our classes, when giving a Clover demo, I have told our students ... "A Clover will really set you apart from your competition, it is something Starbucks will never have in their stores." Guess I was wrong. Curious how this will effect independents who also want to serve Clover. Will we have to buy from Starbucks now? Wow.

I'm not too surprised, except for the part where the owner of clover says that starbucks has a dedication to the highest quality arabica and fresh roasting (I know they do some good things for the coffee community, but exceptional?). I'm not too sure if this will improve the flavor of starbuck's coffee, since it is already completely undesirable and disgusting to me. (personal opinion only)

"We are thrilled to be a part of Starbucks Coffee Company, given its brewed coffee heritage and passion for specialty coffees," Nosler said. "Personally, I'm delighted to unite our innovative technology with Starbucks' amazing influence from origin to consumer. Starbucks is uniquely positioned to change the way the world thinks about brewed coffee."

AAAGGGHHHH!

I think that is what kids these days call "selling out."

My first thoughts are, you have got to be freaking kidding me! Is this a sure sign of the end times???
