I have been running some numbers. I cant do anything about the shipping number. The issue there is once you move away from an envelope to a box of any type the shipping charges get crazy. But I have made an adjustment to the prices for the devices.

Funnel ($7) + Cone ($7.50) + Shipping ($7) = $21.50 "Discount for buying both"

The cup/digital thermometer does work fine as I have done that for several years, but can be a bit slow depending on the thermometer. One thing I noticed with my DMM is the lightning quick response with temp. readings.

Awesome! If you need more k type thermocouples check ebay first, they are 2.50. They get shipped from Japan so it takes 2 to 3 weeks, I went ahead and bought a bunch cause having extras comes in handy. Also I found that just using a Styrofoam cup and a digital thermometer works just as well.

The reason the Scace device(s) are so expensive is because people will pay that much instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. Same with the Fluke DMMs... I just bought a $30 digital multimeter from Sears and a $15 Type K thermocouple to measure temps. It's fast/accurate enough to work for me. IMO no tastebuds can detect .1 degree increments.

Dustin DeMers said:

No biggie, I like trying to recreate stuff the coffee world has come out with anyway.
