Bill, I tell you the other two on this name thing are now disliking anything with blue involved in the name... I like the blue room actually. I seem to be the only one racking my caffiened head on name ideas...my other partners seem to be relaxed about the whole name thing, they say the name will come...what the heck! The Store opens the end of September.
Hey EspressoFein, just when I thought all was well with Falling Branch. The sign guy stated that the name would be negative to the locals because, the area Falling Branch is low end and could possibly turn away potential customers. So, we don't want that, so to answer your question...yes we are still looking for a name and the coffee bar should be opening the end of September....with no name..aaah.
Thank you so much for sharing. I love the combination of your names JoLinda's (nice) Website was fantastic as well. The name that has passed all the checks and is free for TM/State and such is...Falling Branch Coffee & Tea Company. Interestingly enough the name is what shows up on your GPS when you enter the parking lot. Interestingly enough the name is what shows up on your GPS when you enter the parking lot. Everyone seems to be at peace with the name and we can move on from that whole horrible process...haha We have been discussing doing wine as well with a two class minimum, you bet some licensing and cost with that standard I am told here in Virginia. One of the ladies we were sharing the possible name with told us a story about Moses and the Isrealites heading to the promise land (coffee land for me, ha). Anyway after traveling through the red sea they stayed in Marah for three days and they of course complained that the water was bitter. So, Moses struck a tree and the branchs hit the water and made the water sweet. Exodus 14-15 if you care to check it out. I thought that was pretty cool, and the area has history with the Indians of course, double bonus. Then I was reading this book of Virginia's quirks and oddities, and came across their definition of a "branch." Which means "heaven sent" a cool fresh body of water flowing in to a larger body of water (coffee water ha) I am really pumped about the name and look forward to design and logo's now>
I forgot to mention any of this. we did careful checks to make sure we could register our business name with our state. We considered a Federal registration as well. More money but way more protection. With a Federal registration you have great leverage when it comes to someone else trying to use your name. Trade mark is important but with a Federal registration of your business name and a good attorney it's not that hard to make sure someone does not use your name in the Continental US.
Joe,
----
Ambassador for Specialty Coffee and palate reform.
