i second *heart* coffee roasters. their design is impeccable and they have ingenious storage and barflow design. very well thought out from a barista's perspective.<br />

Best advice I got was from the Baristas at Barista and Sterling. They hooked me up with another half dozen places and all were excellent. Most baristas are like you and me: friendly folk who wanna help people find what they're looking for.<br />
I had a great trip, drank way way too much espresso and cappuccinos every morning. Water Ave was really nice - beautiful build-out. Another one was, I think, Bambu...I probably have…

I had the best time in Portland! Got to check out Coffeehouse Northwest, Public Domain, Barista, and Courier Coffee. All were great in their own way. Wished I could have also seen Heart, Coava and Water Ave....maybe next time. Thanks BXers :)

If you haven't totally finalized the design it might be worth checking out the Ace Hotel location, cool hotel/coffee-shop set up.
