I've been recently doing a lot of research in order to get the best overall commercial espresso machine..

I was fond of the Elektra Aletta (http://www.elektrasrl.com/aletta.php) and Belle Epoque Verticale (http://www.elektrasrl.com/belle_epoque.php.) Beautiful machines.

Whilst I found very little literature in terms of reviews, I was very convinced. Slowly I learned about the scarcity of spare parts and that the company would only sell to distributor, which my region lacked.

I moved my efforts to the Strada EP, which then I learned had its issues, such as the difficulty of use and in maintaining consistency even when the pressure profiles were stored (very important) and so forth. I got discouraged when I learned about the complications that may even have a destructive nature to the startup. La Marzocco does have a distributor.

The Victoria Arduino Venus (http://www.victoriaarduino.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=22&lang=en) is a beauty that resembles the Belle Epoque, a show piece for sure. Then I learned that there isn't a regional distributor for those either.

Firstly, how important is it to have a distributor? How difficult are these machines to service. What are the most important factors in looking for a machine? Verdicts according to experience?

Thank you.

Serious questions about the Arduino Adonis+tag:www.baristaexchange.com,2012-07-09:1688216:Topic:13967342012-07-09T21:51:24.319ZDylan Hensonhttps://www.baristaexchange.com/profile/DylanHenson
So my shop, the first shop i've ever worked at, uses the Victoria Arduino Adonis+ espresso machine. It's a Cadillac, really- chrome and pearl, extra tall, three-head, push-button everything. The only thing i'd like to change about it is that honestly i feel like it does too much work and i do too little.
My question, though, is this: i've been reading up on Eapresso 101 guidelines, and they all say that the water in your boiler should never be higher than 200 degrees and that your pressure…

My question, though, is this: i've been reading up on Eapresso 101 guidelines, and they all say that the water in your boiler should never be higher than 200 degrees and that your pressure should be around 9 atmospheres. The Adonis is quite remarkably different- as far as i understand it, the boiler temperature is at 250 and the pressure is at 1.2 BAR, which is about the same in atmospheres. Im mostly just looking for someone with a wider frame of reference than myself; i've only ever worked on this machine, so i dont know any of the differences between this and whatever else is out there. Does anyone know if this could possibly be proper? The manual says that by all means, it's set up perfectly, but it goes against everything else i've read on the matter.
I am having some more issues with my El Salvatore home machine. When I turn it on everyday, it always activates the vibe pump for a second, then it builds pressure and works like a charm. Now when I turn it on it activates the pump, turns it off, activates it, turns it off, and so on until I turn it back off. When I try to brew water when I first turn it on nothing comes out, but the pump is constantly on.

This started happening while I was backflushing once, it made a weird noise when I turned the pump off, and then when I turned the pump back on to continue backflushing the pump just continued to run, and not stop like it normally does while backflushing. I recently had issues with the 3-way solenoid, but it was replaced, so I can't see that being the issue.

This may not be ideal for most - but I really enjoy it.
I have a spare steam wand that was rarely used, so I attached a tube to the end of the wand and ran it under the drip tray to the other side of they tray so it pokes up slightly through a hole in the drip tray. Behold, the power of steam! :-D I really would like to see something like it implemented in future machine designs - something separate/independent that wouldn't take up the sole use of a wand. It's saved time, shot glasses, water etc... thought I'd throw it out there in case someone else could benefit.
Water Softeningtag:www.baristaexchange.com,2010-07-15:1688216:Topic:8844862010-07-15T23:42:14.575ZGary Thttps://www.baristaexchange.com/profile/GaryT

Came across a commercial for 'electronic water treatment' for preventing scale buildup. Has anyone heard anything about this (if it's even legit) and/or any espresso machine applications. It would be ideal for me to retain minerals without any scale buildup. Too good to be true? I just don't see how it could change the minerals so they don't build up.

Hello,
I was hoping for ideas on trustworthy companies or people that sell refurbished commercial espresso machines. I currently looking for two, 2 groups to use as secondary machines and was trying to keep the cost down. They will both accompany larger Linea's, so a Marzocco would be nice but not a necessity.

I've been watching baristaexchange classifieds but haven't found the right one yet.
