Profile

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, barista trainer, home barista, coffee enthusiast, consultant
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Seattle Washington
How many years have you been in the industry?
13
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills and what you can offer in regards to an exchange.
The first coffee job I had was at Starbucks, it was also the only job I have ever been fired from.
My love for outdoor activities and so called extreme sports made me want to open up an outdoor catering service for my friends and there friends (the ones I would charge). I catered a weekend events and was plagued with problem after problem. To young in the business to network I sold my box van and put my cart in the lobby of a dot.com in Federal Way, WA. That lasted as long as the fad in my building. When the business died due to lack of foot traffic in a 90% unoccupied building and due to the fact that my husband and I were expecting our first child I sold off some of the equipment for the business and would return nine months after he was born to work for my roaster, Caffe' D'arte. I have the privilege of working closely with our roaster, our general manager, our owners and every member of our team. My family away from home as I like to call them. I been blessed with 5 years of coffee retail experience in our Seattle location as well as a history in as an owner/operator previous to Caffe' D'arte. I deal with all vendors that are re-sold at our stores. Love, love, love to create new drinks that offer our customers and public a personal experience with coffee. It is my goal in coffee to own a catering business/cafe again. I'm particular and family and church are a big reason why this project will benefit a wide array of people. My heartstrings also pull towards giving back to the community and help the youth of our tomorrow find hope and worth in the workforce.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I would love to venture to the east coast, London, Norway, Ireland and of course Italy.
About Me:
Married with two beautiful boys.(three if you count my husband) I have a strong faith and close family ties. Born and raised in Seattle for 32 years. My hobbies besides coffee are music, hiking, mt. biking, cooking and basically anything that brings friends and family closer. I aspire to own a coffee shop again that really gives back to the community my husband and I choose to be a part of. We want to raise our kids around every element of life we can and there is almost no greater venue to do that in then a "Cheers" style cafe/wine & beer/fine chocolate/friendly place.
About My Company:
Caffe' D'arte is the Original Gangsta in the coffee force today. We use traditional Italian Roasting and Post Blending Techiniques. We also have a small wood roaster and are currently one of the only roasters producing Alderwood Roasted Drips & Espresso weekly.
Tradition runs deep in the blood of Caffe D'arte, so don't be surprised to never see blended beverages, 20 ounce cups and holiday blends at our shops. It's challenging and fun to work within the walls of this company. Specialty coffee is such a unique world of people and products.

In Sales you are only as good as your team.

You know I forgot to address how amazing my experience was because of the support of my girls, and the set up tear down crew. The owners, well that goes without saying. Two of my closest friends in real life are two of my co- workers. Beta McCurdy and Angela Hill. Beta heads up the training team at Caffe D'arte. She got her humble starts as a barista that I hired for our Seattle cafe. From the start she was wide eye'd and excited to challenge every inch of her abilities. Angela came from an acco… Continue

Northwest Food Service Show

Excited to say I spent the last two days on the "sales side" of the espresso bar at this show. (Only a total of an hour this time making drinks) I always find it amazing to get feedback from the good folks we see once a year. They are the familiar faces of the food and beverage industry that are patient enough to wait among potential customers and coffee fans for a short latte or cap. We surely shine at this show, which is such a great compliment to all the other fabulous vendors providing the e… Continue

honestly, i like your little bean picture and the Arizona part stuck out. I used to be a trainer for my roaster and I spent a summer flying back and forth to work at five phoenix accounts. They eventually closed due to poor management. they were pretty and fun to visit. The other account I love in that area is Mama Java, Lisa and Peter?(her husband) are amazing! So, tell me more about you and your new operation???How did you get inspired, and what is your focus?

Well I hope you can make it! I am going at the last minute myself. Not much going on. Cupping some nice coffee from Paradise, PT's, Ecco, and Ritual right now. Mostly waiting for new crop to drop. Miguel sent some really interesting coffee from Hawaii recently. All will be made clear at SCAA. :p
