What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, barista trainer, coffee roaster, home barista, coffee enthusiast
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Kalamazoo, Michigan
How many years have you been in the industry?
5
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
maybe
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills and what you can offer in regards to an exchange.
Started out as job, turned into a job/hobby, then obsession, now bordering on being taken away by the men in white coats. My friends have voiced concern...

I can pour some really nice latte art (IMO of course...), interact with customers really well, and easily get obsessed about aspects of coffee that I don't know much about. I'm starting to find the farther and farther you get from the finished cup the more interested I am (i.e. things having to do with origin, sourcing, etc). I just started roasting about 2 years ago, and started really getting into just the past year, but I really love it. Working the bar/machine has become something that makes my day complete, and without it... well...
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Any... contact me with an exchange option and I'll let you know if I'm willing to go!
About Me:
So... uh... coffee? Yea, me too...
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
As stated earlier, the farther you get from the finished cup, the more interested I generally am. I also like to look at customers I first met years ago who are now roasting their own beans, grinding them on a Mazzer at home and brewing them up in a HX sitting on their counter; all because of some conversation that started with them saying, "So you're pretty into this coffee thing aren't you?" or something like that.

so, since you're on the inside at waterstreet, any chance they need other roasting/bar/marketing/bean counting assistance for a willing apprentice?

Actually I'm not pulling shots right now (I should change my info... I'll get around to it, haha), but I actually am working for Waterstreet. I'm doing their deliveries, packaging, labeling, inventory, etc. It's a lot of work, and I just started so I'm still kind of learning the ropes, but it's alright so far. Cleaned out a couple Probats today... wow... I had no idea! That sucks! Haha.

So - Bryan - I've been sort-of isolated up here in GR - not many real shops around - and the only thing I knew in KZoo was Water Street - where are you pulling shots now?
