We have tried for 4 years now to find a high-barrier compostable retail coffee bag with no luck! The bag manufactures have no desire to develop one, I have now come to realize after many phone calls to them!
If anyone out there knows of someone I can talk to please let me know!
I even tried phoning "Sunchips" but their bags are for proprietary use only. Going to experiment with a Sunchip bag today though! :)

Cheers!!

Wow way to call Sunchips! I've been looking as well with just as much luck. I would love to hear if you ever do find something.
Good luck, sounds like a neat idea.

On a related thought... anyone out there doing a re-usable canister? Kinda like a growler program at your local craft brewery? Might be hard to execute and confusing for the consumer, just kinda brainstorming here.

We use a re-usable tote with our high volume customers. Pick up the empties with each delivery. Actually some of our loyal non-commercial customers really like the tote and buy also.

The tote has a nice hinged lid and we use a paper bag liner! comes in 2.5kg and 5kg sizes

There are other companies that encourage their customers to return bags and they send them to be recycled.

Keep the green ideas coming!!

The people from the Yerba MAte people at Guayaki use a bag similar to SunChips. Theirs are available in a 2.5 kg that I know of and they are only labeled with stickers so they MUST be getting them from someone else...I'll try to find out...
Brady,
Yes we are. We carry them in stores. My partner found a couple of pallets of candle jars with lids. We put our labels on them with a tamper proof seal. Also a note that we take these jars back and give the customer a 1.00 on there loyalty account or credit on the next purchase.
These hold whole roasted beans.

Tekpak Solutions, they are in canada.  Biodegradable hi-barrier packaging for coffee. They are even working on biodegradable valves.
