What do people use for an affordable sample roasters? Has anyone used a HotTop for a sample roaster, if so how has it worked for you?

another affordable option is a Quest m3

Another affordable option is the Behmor 1600. Short of giving a few thousand for a nice sample roaster, it's a great option. I've modified how I roast with it, and am able to get some really nice cupping roasts.

Hi Joshua, I have used a few "sample" roasters.

1) single barrel electric Probat

2) Diedrich HR1

 3) San Franciscan 1 lb.

After using these roasters I say stick with gas. I don't like the lag time with electric and I feel I have achieved better results with the gas. Ideal for me would probably be a 2-3 barrel gas sample roaster.

Hope my thoughts were of help.
