Look around for roasters offering apprenticeships. It is by far the best way to get into the business the right way- ie learning the technicalities of roasting from someone with experience. These days there are a numkber of roasters who are self taught. There is nothing wrong with this route, but I still maintain those who have learnt from a roast master with plenty of experience gain a lot from this approach.
