Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, barista trainer
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Peekskill USA
How many years have you been in the industry?
5
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Our shop is in a small city, pretty busy, very friendly. We're constantly growing in our knowledge. In the past year we've gone from rarely putting out a drink with latte art to almost every drink with decent art of some kind. I've recently found my passion for the craft and I'm trying to overload on as much information as possible. I'm currently preparing for regional competition especially for the experience since I want to start dipping further into the professional aspects of being a barista.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I love Europe, Berlin and Paris especially. I'm also very interested in the west coast of the US, but I love culture so anywhere!
About Me:
I'm co-manager/barista at the peekskill coffee house. I'm trying to be the one that introduces the shop to the professional barista community, knowing that there's only bigger and better things to come. I have a long way to go but I've definitely decided that my job is no longer just a job but a hobby and a passion.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Turning a caffeine fix into something that blows someone away, whether it's the taste or the presentation.

Nuova Simonelli!!!!

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 7:03pm 1 Comment

We got a new machine! Long over due, but well worth the wait. After attending the NERBC with my boss, it was obvious that we could use some new equipment. Happily we decided on the simonelli used at competition, and i am glad to say that all employees and costumers are very satisfied with the decision. I thought I used to get excited when someone ordered anything espresso related, but that was nothing compared to what I feel now, pure love!

competing

I just want to say that competing in NERBC was one of the best things I've ever done. Everyone that I met was so awesome, and I really feel that I did something and it was a blast. I'm definitely stepping up my game and pushing myself further into the professional barista community. Also this experience has broken barriers within myself such as confidence, anxiety, and my ability to speak in front of crowds. I am proud to say that I've inspired employees at my coffee house just by getting up… Continue

Loaner Machine

Posted on October 23, 2008 at 7:57pm 0 Comments

Our espresso machine wasn't doin so well, they bought it used to begin with, and we've been open 5 years now, so it's expected. Well the owners decided against buying a new machine, so ours is getting rebuilt. Unfortunately we got the worst loaner since he has so many out right now. It sucks! It's so frustarting to serve drinks, shots especially, that are far under par compared to your usual best. It's gonna be a rough weekend.

Thanks! I wish I had one to use all the time, but if I want that to happen I have to buy it myself. Not going to happen. Are you going to the Barista Jam in Easton, PA? Hopefully I can make it.

P.S. Nice Tulip!

I'm not sure what my problem is. Not enough practice is probably the main problem, but I can't seem to get the wand at an anlge that I like.

The hats may be gone now since there were only about 500 made. Not sure though. As far as the plugs, I just forget to put them in sometimes!
