Barista Exchange

the world's premiere online community for the specialty coffee industry

10 years ago the word "cafe" in Indonesia generally referred to a nightclub, disco or place of similar genre. Coffee "cafes" were few and far between, even in Jakarta. It was not that coffee as not being drunk, simply coffee consumption was really focused on the robusta being sold at the roadside Warung. I remember the times well- Nescafe was 5 times more expensive than brewed fresh robusta. Anyway, today cafes are springing up everywhere. Many have their own twist on things- not copying European coffee culture, not copying the polar which is the US system. I think this is interesting. Would be great to hear about Indonesian cafe experiences- in some cases from the horses mouth, other from customers. Ayo, ditunggu pengalamanya!

Eddie, being the son of a Dutch-Indonesian born dad, you should know...its "Susu Telor Madu Jahe"...a well known drink here. Mixture of Smilk (susu), egg (ITelor), Honey (Madu) and Ginger...(Jahe)...very nice!

Hi Robby If it wasn't your logo, just something you were using to promote your local coffee, you may not mind other people using it, or altering it with their own colors! That is why I was asking! Again nice job!! Cheers
