Trying to troubleshoot our left bank (long-double) dose programed buttons - our double and long shot buttons are defunct and won't stop water flow. Any tech advice?

Is it all of the buttons on that group's pad? If so, I'm thinking dead flowmeter on that group.

Is it just 1 or two? I'm thinking try programming them again. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking the pad is hosed.

These are just general thoughts. I know nothing about NS machines in particular.

Good luck, but you should probably call your tech.
It's probably the flow meter. The buttons start flow but it don't stop it automatically? The flow stops when you push the button again like a semiauto?

You can replace the flow meter yourself just have espressoparts.com overnight it to you and run the machine manually until you replace it. You can even do the swap hot if you just replace the top plate and spinner.
Thanks for the quick response - my husband Tony, (at the coffee shop right now) has taken the flow meter off and there seems to be no problem with the spin. And, yes to Jason's reply below - for the past few days the buttons flow but do not stop. The flow meter works perfectly on the continuous flow as well as the double button next to it..... the first 3 on left do not. For the heck of it he went into program mode and unfortunately couldn't get the bank of buttons to even flash. I'm heading on over to espressoparts.com to check out the part. Thanks!

A flowmeter works by counting the number of rotations of that little turbine inside. When you program the machine, you basically tell it how many rotations worth of water to dispense before it turns off. So a problem flowmeter will spin fine, but the sensor will not pick up the little turbine's motion. There's usually a little light that flashes as the turbine spins. If it is on and stays on while water is dispensing OR never comes on, the sensor is not working correctly.

It doesn't come in to play for the manual dispense, since there is no programmed shutoff. So proper manual dispense function doesn't tell you anything about the flowmeter function.

HOWEVER, since another program button on that group works fine, the flowmeter must be working. Unfortunately. If it isn't a program problem (or if the whole program function is hosed) you have another, probably much more expensive, problem. You might be able to get some support from NS's tech support guys or EspressoParts to help you diagnose and figure out if it is something that you can fix.

I would not buy any parts until you have diagnosed the problem. Throwing parts at a broken machine can get expensive in a hurry. Good luck.
If its just a couple buttons, did you check to make sure the ribbon cable is securely seated in the pad? Strange things like that happen when they wiggle loose. That would be a nice cheap fix.
sounds like your not getting it into program mode correctly, what model do you have?
