Happy New Year everyone.

I will be moving to the Tampa Bay area the end of this month and am looking for an opportunity to learn from the best barista around.  I completed the 5 day training at the American Barista College in Portland and a training class from Intelligentsia in NYC.  I am ready to get into a quality shop.  Starting as a cashier is ok with me too, as long as I can get the training I desire.  I am open to suggestions on how to reach my goal...and hearing from anyone interested in interviewing me.

Best,

Are you set on Tampa? I am a Florida native and to my knowledge there are no specialty coffee shops in the Bay Area. Best wishes.

We need Barista but 150 miles south of Tampa at Sanibel Island. See pocolocosanibel.com

Hi Marie,

I'm co-owner of Mojo, an indie book & record store in the USF area of Tampa (Fowler Ave to be exact). We're expanding our store and in March we'll be opening a coffee bar. A serious coffee bar, not what you usually see in bookstores. In addition to the usual drip and espresso, we'll have a pourover bar, chemex, french press etc. Also some awesome loose leaf teas and natural, fresh baked goods brought in from a local baker. Focus is on the coffee, though, not food. (You wouldn't be stuck making paninis). It's going to be great.

We're accepting resumes for baristas right now. PT or FT. I encourage you (or anyone else for that matter) to email us if you're interested: mojotampa@comcast.net

P.S. If you don't want to apply with us, you might also try Sacred Grounds, Cafe Hey or Kahwa (St Pete). I don't think any of them are doing much with the manual brewing techniques, but they're all well-regarded cafes.

Still looking for work.

I am holding out for a great coffee bar...don't want to have to go to a national chain to gain experience and possibly learn a some bad habits.  If anyone is out there that can help me out, I sure would appreciate it.

Volta Coffee Gainesville Florida. That is about the only place in Florida that produces consistent drinks, under 12 and under.
My brother lives about 10 minutes from Volta.  It is good!  Had a great cap there.
Ah, nice! I worked there for 2 1/2 years. The ladies there will treat you well :)
