I am in charge of marketing for our coffee shop and I am looking for some fun ideas to try via Facebook to reach out to customers and engage them. I have done a contest and it was fun. Just looking for more ideas! Thanks

In our experience, asking for opinions and ideas is a good way to go (i.e. What should we name this new drink? What was your first coffee drink ever?) People LOVE to give opinions (and they are great feedback and ideas!)

Also consider off-kilter 'Facebook only' specials. (i.e. Come in and mention <enter slightly ridiculous/comical code word or phrase> from 12-2 pm for a particular discount/freebie/etc.)

Photos are a great way to engage too - of your store, baristas, drinks, latte art, food, etc.

I once saw a chef have a contest where they took a close-up picture of a food item and had facebook followers guess what it was (for a prize). Loved it.

I'd also encourage you to follow other businesses (personally or through the company) and see how they interact with their followers. I rarely see statements - lots of questions. Light hearted, silly, fun, and creative posts/questions. Keep it relevant to your business (obviously). And finally - you are real people behind the post, so the more personal and welcoming you can make the online community, the better.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I agree! The only thing I would add is, the more frequent the posts, the better the following you will have! It keeps you fresh in people's minds, especially if you have something engaging and interesting to say or ask! AND pictures, pictures, PICTURES! People LOVE to see pretty coffee, yummy food and friendly faces! Just make sure thats what they get in the store too :)
