While I am trying to determine which espresso brewer and grinder setup I want to use, I am also trying to locate service companies in my region, who are close enough to be relatively affordable. I have tried Google, and YellowPages, and have found not one service company. I know Brady has his business in Charlotte, but that's three hours away. Atlanta is 3 hours away. Savannah is 2 hours or so. Macon, 2 hours. Do any of you know any sales and service companies in Georgia or South Carolina that would be able to meet my equipment needs?

Not that this should take the place of any other posts... but you might call La Marzocco, Nuova Simonelli, etc and ask them who is active in your area. First-hand feedback from customers is best though, so hoping that someone has some experiences to share.

I did go look at the websites of the most common, popular brands: La Marzocco (my hands-down first choice), Nuova Simonelli, Rancilio, Astoria, La Cimbali, etc. None of them listed authorized service companies. I know that some companies, such as Everything Coffee & Tea, offer sales and service, as well as coffee shop supplies. Given the distance from Espressoparts, that would be a good solution, with the reservation that we are again dealing with distance from Atlanta. I dropped a line to Rob Tuttle, so I hope to hear back from him regarding this issue. Of course, 3 hours is not a big deal when you are shipping something, next day is very easy to come by, but service when you're down, and especially if you need a loaner to get through? In my mind, something to consider carefully.

Where are you located? I have a technician in Chattanooga and Nashville, TN.

I am located south of Augusta, GA, so a Tenn. tech is kinda in the wrong direction.

They may not list them on the website, but if you call them they will help you find your local techs. I get calls pretty regularly from people that have gotten my name from Rancilio.

Incidentally, I took the liberty of calling Rancilio a few minutes ago. There is a company in Columbia, SC and 3 companies in Savannah. Might be farther than you were hoping for at around 100 miles away, but they are:

Whaley Foodservice, Columbia SC (800) 877-2662
Whaley Foodservice, Savannah GA (888) 765-0036
Coastal Coffee, Savannah GA (912) 355-4135
Coffee Doctors, Savannah GA (912) 898-3787

Rates will vary, but you might be able to negotiate something. I believe standard mileage is still around 45 cents a mile so you may be able to get down to a trip charge of $200. Not fantastic, so I'd definitely learn your way around preventative maintenance. Happy to help you there.

I have no experience with any of these outfits, but our friend James can probably help a little with feedback. These companies are all authorized for Rancilio, and probably others as well. A call to them will give you more info.

Hope this helps.

Get a LM Linea/FB70 and the orange book and learn to do it yourself.

And call up the Counter Culture people. They have a center in Atlanta, and they do good work.
