This Thursday, September 10 from 1pm -4:30, the BGA will be Training BGA members to offer the BGA Level 1 Certification Exam. The BGA is hoping to train examiners from all over the country, so as people want to pass the Level 1 Certification, they can go to the BGA website, look up examiners in their area, and then call them directly to schedule a time to get their certification.

If you will be in the Long Beach area this Thursday and are interested or if you just want more information on anything BGA related, please email or call me. Hope to see some of you guys in a few days!

Any plans to bring something (whether a "Train the Examiner" or just a BGA/SCAA workshop) to the GL region? I would certainly be interested in this. Even the "midwest" ones are usually just far enough away that it doesn't make it financially practical for me to road trip.

We could definitely be a venue for this (space-wise) but our equipment isn't really up to par (older NS stuff).

Keep me posted. I know stuff like this isn't easy to organize, so let me know how I can help you guys out.

Hi Bryan,

Heather can confirm, but I do not believe the "Train the Examiner" is going mobile any time in the near future. However, you do have a BGA Jam coming your way the weekend of October 3. Trevor from MadCap has a sanctioned jam planned in Grand Rapids:

Here's their website:

Here's the bX event:

I'll bet he's looking for station leads, porters, etc if you are interested in helping.

Looks like a great event.

Why is the BGA announcing this 5 days before the event as if people have the time, money etc to drop everything and fly out to Long Beech?
This type of thing needs to be advertised WELL in advance for any hope of a good turn out.
HI Chris,

I don't think people have the time and or money to drop everything and come out to Long Beach. The SCAA is having their yearly meetings at this same time, and that is why we decided to have it the day before so people who will already be there can take advantage and take this as well. I thought I would post here so anyone who is in the area can take it as well. I don't expect anyone to fly out just for this, but for the future I will try and get this out ahead of time.

As far as taking this out to the Great Lakes, it doesn't take much more than getting someone out to your area to teach it in a lab and making sure it is sanctioned by the SCAA. I am hoping we get this class out to a few regions this year, but we are getting through one at a time, and after this first one I think we will have a better idea of exactly what it will take to get it mobile.
Thanks, Heather.
We are really interested in doing this in our area.
See ya in Seattle!

Definitely keep me posted. I'm curious to know how this first event goes.
